    Hi I have a full 5kg cylinder available R500

Also have another 5kg or 2kg for sale (2kg with a twist valve). Just battling to decide which one I want to sell.

Durban area. PM if you are interested.

Pity you're in Durban, I'm always looking for 2kg and 5kg cylinders with twist valves.

Yeah they are a pain to ship. Don't even want to consider it

I bought my 1st Keg from a company in JHB and had it shipped with a 9KG CO² cylinder(full) ... something like 27Kg .... so shipping shouldn't be a problem. Lots of bubble wrap and then some sticky cling film wrap should do the job

As long as you ship it via road freight, you're golden. It's the airplane thing that's the problem.

I can get a refurbished 5kg cylinder with valve from Centurion Fire Supplies for R250. They fill for R250. Not worth shipping from Durban.............

Centurion fire services charges about the same.
                  Did they change their pricing?
Must go chat to them. A few months back it was R30/kg

I got a tank about a year ago, and I remember the typical going rate was about R25/kg. Hope it hasnt gone up that much already
                    Cheers,

It is now R287 for 5kg.

They have to fetch from Roodepoort or somewhere, no more CO2 on site.

I'll find out next time and report back.

But my gut feeling is that it needs to be close to an Afrox depot.

Good morning guys. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm new to the game.
I see you are quoting pricing for CO2 refills at a fire place. Is there not a health risk when using fire grade CO2 instead of food grade? Is there even a difference? I was told that fire grade makes the beer taste different.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
                            Thanks.

Hi Wayne. Now thats a raging debate!
My understanding is that food grade CO2 and all other CO2 is made in exactly the same way. How clean the inside of the tanks are, what lubes they use etc is where things can get complicated. [just like HDPE isnt necessarily always food grade because of toxic release agents that could have been used]

Many, many homebrewers use actual fire extinguishersas well as fire refills, myself included, with no ill effects (*twitch, twitch*). I dont think you have anything to worry about.

Please do share if you find a good refill price somewhere around our area
                              Cheers,
