I mocked up a layout for the control panel, will see how well this scales when I have all the bits and pieces.

That is kickass. Really nice idea with the aluminium case. Very James Bondish. I feel you would need to be playing something like the mission impossible theme song while you are popping open your case and setting up your brewday!Last edited by Langchop; 11 July 2020, 08:59.Cheers,

Obligatory "Don't try this at home"
PIDs were delivered in the week, so while I'm waiting for all the other bits and pieces to make the control panel, I'm testing the PID on an Easy Ale brew today.
And sticking with the Frankenstein theme everything is connected up without much protection.
Counting on the metal countertop to act as a heat sink for the SSR while at the same time not acting as a conductor...
The PID is auto tuning at the moment.

Ok, so a 4 degree drop in temperature during a full hour of recirculation at 350 litre per hour not too bad, will add some yoga mat insulation for brew day.
My current efficiency rate is about 68%, I'm hoping this will bring me closer to 75%

Looks cool. 4c is a good place to be at our current ambient temp. TBH. 68 to 72 is more then likely where most people would be. Only grainfather (75% average eff) and Toxyc gets more then that with his rather involveddubbel mash and sparge ( sorry toxyc I keep naming your processes but that's how my brain works) . I'm at 70%

I batch sparge right now since it's the simplest process, will see how this affects me moving forward.
