  • Wort Circulation Pump: Stainless Steel Operation temperature 110

    Hi Guys,

I have seen a number of post on alternative pumps for brewing. I converted a 50L urn that I picked up for R500 and added thermocouple, PID and a SSR. basically I am building my own grainfather

I am looking to buy this pump for wort circulation with a counterflow:

Does anyone have any experience with these pumps?

I have red a number of guys use dishwasher pumps, do you have any issues, advice or recommendations?

I considered buying a Magnetic drive pump from Ali express, but apparently their shipment time is really bad

Try Banggood as well, I've bought from them successfully and not much of a shipping delay. ~2 weeks

Thanks! The only thing with Bangoood is that they are way more expensive than Ali!

What setup do you make use of?

I have also gone the Urn route. 50lt Caterpride but not as complex as the route you are heading in
There's a thread in the 'Equipment' board of this forum. 'Caterpride Dema-clone' There a few other threads of people's builds there as well

Thanks for the response, I will definitely try it out. Will post photo's of the finished product, I found a 48L pot for 750 that fits exactly in my urn, without touching my probe and element. I will drill holes as a strainer/ grain basket (it is cheap stainless 201 and but cheaper than the std. grain basket at brew shop. When I calculated to build and weld myself roughly R 1200, would have been much more expensive) goal is to build a 50 L GF below R5000, I am still within budget, still need a counter flow, pump and fittings though

Looking forward to the pics. Start up a thread in 'Homebrew Equipment' when you're ready

Where did you get the urn at R500?

If you want to pay that much for a Geyserwise product, you might as well get a proper brewing pump ....
