  • Liquid apple pie .....

I'm going to give this one a bash. My idea is to get apple pie in a bottle.

I'm going to start out with a kit with some extra's and then move onto pure apple juice and grains.

Here is the recipe for now:

    1 Blackrock Apple Cider Kit
750 g of either Dextrose, White Sugar, or possibly adding Light Dry Malt
    2 - 4L Apple Juice (preservative free)
350g Lactose (too sweeten it up)
    3-4 Cinnamon sticks
70g Malto dextrine - to give it some body.
4 peeled, cored and sliced Granny Smith apples inserted in a stocking to keep together.
Kit Yeast @ 24C or lower.

    Interesting.
I have a very nice apple pie ale recipe. I'm not sure the recipe you are putting together will get those toasted / baked pie notes but hey... I love the bold and daring.

Maybe add some CaraAroma to compensate for the roasted taste without going to dark? Or Biscuit?

          OK

I ended up with the following:
          400g biscuit malt
          400g Lactose
          1kg brew enhancer
2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and quatered
          1 blackrock cider kit
          2L Pure apple juice
          4 cinnamon sticks
          Kit Yeast .....

Bottled it today and to be honest - I'm not impressed. It is not dry as the Blackrock kits tends to be but it still has sour note to it, not sweet at all

Can't taste the cinnamon at all - this is the last time I'll be using sticks.

When did you put the cinnamon in? I have used sticks for my Apple Crisp ale and my Pumpkin Dubbel both with 15 minutes to go in the boil. Always some nice cinnamon undertones.

Tasted some of this as well - after three weeks of bottle conditioning - MUCH better. a Cider with a nice maltiness to it - no dryness. Think this is going to good in another 2 weeks time or in summer
