  • Two dogs alcoholic lemonade

Not sure if anyone remembers there was a product about 20 years ago called Two Dogs lemonade it was imported from Australia. Anyhow i can’t remember exactly how it tasted but i remembered i loved it. I have tried to make a few alcoholic lemonades but they came out rather nasty.

    Until i saw this http://www.wortsandall.co.za/showthr...tter-than-that

I took Captians recipe and had changed it a bit and I’m not sure if i have a really nice ginger beer, or a really nice alcoholic lemonade.

Heres what i did, i only made a 10L batch, incase it was undrinkable

    Ingredients
    12 L water
    1 kg amber DME
    1 kg Golden Sugar
600g ginger peeled and sliced very very thin in a food processor
Rind and juice of 4 lemons
    1 large grapefruit juiced
    20g Southen Dawn hops
    1 large stick of cardamon
    6 cloves
    1x S04 yeast
    1tbs of vitaferm

Put ginger, lemon rind, and hops into 2 hop bags

    Method
(total boil time is 10 min)
Put 12L of water in the boiler
When water is boiling add Sugar, DME, and the 2 hop bags, and vitaferm

    (5 min into boil)
    add Cardamon stick and cloves

    (8 min into boil)
Add the juice of the lemons and grapefruit

When boil is done remove 2 hop socks and put in fermentor.

Use emersion chiller to chill wort, when cool put in fermentor.

    Pitch yeast.

Fermentation was done in under a week i think SG was around 1068 and OG was around 1016
