And now for a sad picture:
    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424103405.830640.jpg

It would appear this bad boy has gotten infected. My first infection, after about 20 brews.
Doesn't smell bad, but that skin is not a good sign. I'm hoping it's mild (as I can't bring myself to chuck out 40l of IPA) so will dry hop anyway and reassess at bottling in a weeks time.

Remember kids: sanitation, sanitation, sanitation (not that I didn't sanitise everything anyway)

Dry Hopped the Black Ale on Sunday Evening, SG is at 1.006. Also brewed the APA. Everything looking good for the Southyeasters Summer Festival. Hopefully I can get the Carbonation levels right!

I bottled my Brown Ale yesterday afternoon. 28 bottles in total!!

Now I just have to wait a couple more weeks.................

Also, this morning I am trying my hand at roasting a half kilo of grain that I am going to use in a stout. Hopefully by the end of today I will have a half kilo of Caramel Malt, expected to be around 60deg L.

                  Graeme

Personally I wouldn't stress. Have you tried tasting it. I have seen a similar skin on someone else's brew and it turned out fine.

There are a couple of posts on HBT which have a similar issue and I don't recall any getting ditched.

Looks like a lactobacillus pellicle to me.

Did primary fermentation happen? If so, give it a taste, sour beers are all the rage ;-)

It did ferment (FG 1.012), but when I tasted it this evening I had to work hard not to throw up. Really, really bad stuff.

Thanks Steven, a little thin and not enough Malt Backbone to balance the bitterness. In my opinion! Really good nose though.
